Our Interns & Volunteers

Toxic Free NC depends on a talented and devoted crew of volunteers and interns who make many areas of our work successful!

Robyn Beckford
Robyn volunteers regularly with Toxic Free NC, helping us during volunteer work nights at the office, outreach and special events around the Triangle.
Megan Carroll
Communications Intern

Megan is a student at NCSU interning with Toxic Free NC in Winter 2008 and Spring 2009. She is working on an organizational history project, interviewing some of Toxic Free NC's founders and compiling audio and photos into a slide presentation. She will also be assisting with the public release of our Childcare Pest Control report in Spring 2009.
Anne Everitt
Anne is a professional chef for Rosie's Plate in Raleigh. She volunteers often for Toxic Free NC special events and work parties, and is a passionate advocate for sustainable agriculture and healthy food. (You can't read them at this scale, but Anne is wearing organic avenger wrist cuffs in this photo - a.k.a. "certified organic" rubber bands that came around bundles of collards at a cooking class party Anne led for us. Thanks Anne!)
Princess Jallah
Farm-to-Childcare Intern

Princess is a student in Food & Nutrition at NC Central University. She is interning at Toxic Free NC through Summer 2009 to help start a farm-to-childcare program at one or two childcare centers in downtown Durham, and compile how-to resources for others to use.
Robin Koch
Robin is a Raleigh architect who frequently volunteers for Toxic Free NC outreach events and work parties, and is also a strong advocate for sustainable agriculture and justice for farmworkers.

Kate Pattison
Kate is a long-time volunteer for Toxic Free NC special events and research projects. She also has a regular gig editing the News Briefs section of Toxic Free News, and as a guest blogger for our news blog, Fair Ground.

Shirley Sparr
"Ambassador Shirley" is a great advocate for sustainable agriculture who often volunteers to assist Toxic Free NC's organizers in making contacts and organizing projects in the Western mountain region of the state.
Jean Strandberg
Toxic-Free Kids Intern

Jean is a senior at University of California at Santa Cruz majoring in Community Studies. She is interning at Toxic Free NC for the summer and fall of 2008, working mostly on a survey of pest management practices in NC childcare centers. You may also hear from her on our news blog, Fair Ground, or see her at outreach events.
Chandra Taylor
Chandra often volunteers on Toxic Free NC's outreach team and helps with special events. She is an attorney at the Southern Environmental Law Center in Chapel Hill.
Jasmine Wilson
Jasmine is a regular volunteer for Toxic Free NC's outreach programs and other special events. She is from Fayetteville, and currently attends NC School of the Arts in Winston-Salem.
