Children aren’t merely little adults, kids are very different from adults in a variety of ways, which means that each day, our kids are exposed to even more hazardous pollutants than grownups are:
- Children breathe more air, consume more water, and burn up more calories per pound of bodyweight than adults. Consequently, kids are disproportionately subjected to pollutants like pesticides in our air, water supplies and food.
- Babies and small kids may also be exposed through breast milk, even through playing near to the ground and putting things into their mouths. Even prior to birth, a fetus will be subjected to pollutants through the placenta. One option for mothers afraid of passing harmful chemicals to their infant from breast feeding, is to feed them organic baby formula. Although formula is second best to breast milk, for a mom thats been exposed to pesticides organic formula may be the best choice.
- For several years after birth, children’s metabolic systems will continue developing. Which means their bodies are less likely to process the toxins that get into their bodies, and at the same time they will absorb even more of those toxins.
